Christmas is Coming....

So we are 13 days away from the biggest merchandising event of the year.
Christmas.

Of course for those of us who do not follow any sort of group belief (read- religion), what exactly are we celebrating?

Ah yes, we are celebrating the getting of useless crap, and noisy toys. High priced and over priced things. Mass merchandisers having "all time low prices", or "our lowest price of the season". When the reality is, they are not lower priced, and most likely will be sold for next to nothing in two or three weeks.

Of course some would say we are celebrating family, and friends, and the "spirit of the season". Well as far as I can tell, most people dread the holiday get togethers with said friends and family. And the spirit of the season? Well that would have to be greed. Then you have rudeness thrown in for good measure.

I went Christmas shopping yesterday. Wow. I have no words. It looks as if Christmas has thrown up all over everything. Then you get people who knock into you, and look at you like it is your fault. I had the overwhelming urge to push these cretins down and tell them to "piss off, you rude ass bugger". I didn't.

I generally do not like Christmas. I don't like the cold weather. I don't like the Hallmarkishness of it. I don't like the phony "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Have a great New Year, " wishes from people who normally wouldn't give you the time of day any other time of year. I mean if every other day of the year you wish me "Drop dead asshole" why should this time of year be any different?

I guess my point is that I think instead of bringing out the best in people, this holiday tends to bring out the worst. Sure you have some people who really do help others this time of year, but why can't they help out all year round? My personal thought is, if you can't be bothered to do anything for others the rest of the year, don't start now. At least that way, you won't look like a world class hypocrite. You'll just be the garden variety everyday asshat!

I guess what bothers me is how fake people become this time of year. That bugs the everliving daylights out of me. As if we don't have enough fake ass people in the world already. I have no use for people who pretend to be something they are not, for all of a month out of the year. Damn it, if you are going to fake your way through life, at least have the common courtesy to do it year round.

And now for something completely different.

A really cool website, that I am having a huge amount of fun with. I highly recommend it to anyone with time to waste!

Too flippin cool. It is a facial recognition program where you upload your picture, and they scan your face and then, tell you who you look at based on a set of measurements taken from your facial profile. Really cool. Lots of mindless fun!
