The Freakin Oscars

Jebus.
I so cannot believe this crap.
What a total load.
Shhhhh. Listen. Do you hear that?

That was my jaw dropping at the lack of Oscar nods for Cinderella Man. WTF?

I mean really. Let's go down a check list shall we, good.

The movie was?
a.)Great.
b.)Entertaining
c.)Well acted
d.)Superbly directed
e.)all of the above

Hmm let's see I think the answer to that was E.) All of the above.

Russell Crowe was?
a.)Wonderful
b.)Brought the character to life
c.)Totally believable as a boxer
d.)Just freakin awesome
e.)All of the above

Oh man that is a tough one. Let me think, think, think, think, E. Most definitely E.

This movie made me laugh, cry, jump, flinch. It was expertly crafted all the way around. From the acting, to the cinematography to the make up.

I have said it before and I say it again, this was a great movie. I have never been in a theater where the audience actually gave a standing ovation at the end. A standing ovation. And no it wasn't just house wives hell bent on seeing Russell in skivvies. There were house husbands too--just kidding.

I suppose the academy has just had its fill of feel good movies. I guess they are going the anti-Ron Howard route. Movies that are not so much make you feel good, as they are make you uncomfortable because we are being a socially acceptable film where we talk about things that make you squirm otherwise. It makes about as much sense as when Babe was nominated for the best motion picture award a couple years backs.

With that in mind dearest academy members here is a wee quote from that esteemed film:

That'll do pig. That'll do.

Meaning?
Well no real meaning there, just wanted to say that!

Damn you academy members.

Hi Robyn, I just posted a comment but it wound up on the wrong post. OOPS! Roposting it here.

Hi Robyn, Just want to let you know I agree with you! I was really bummed too, but now at lest Cinderella Man won't be the movie everyone complains should not have won the Oscar. It is interesting how many critics and others are also complaining that RC and the movie were very deserving. I have found some interesting comments from poeple of all persuasions. This is a movie that has touched alot of people, and that won't change in the long run.

Also, I want to mention that I have been reading your blog since I outed you on Murph's recently. LOL. I am not a big one to post anything, but I promise to delurk now and then.

Hope things get better for your little guy, you sound like a devoted Mom. MaggieMac
