Last night we went out to dinner with some friends of our. We let them pick where, because we going up to Dayton to meet them, so they of course would know where to go better then us. It was also a birthday as well. They picked Don Pablos. I had forgotten how much I dislike Don Pablos.
OMG they suck. First, the salsa tastes like it comes from a jar--if I wanted that, I would go buy some in a jar. Second we ordered queso dip. Now maybe I am spoiled by the little Mexican restaurant we have here in my town, but when I order queso, I don't expect bright yellow cheese like goo. I expect the stuff that is actually *gasp* cheese. Now, I have to admit that I do like velveeta on occasion. But this cheese dip was so bad, that it made Velveeta seem like some fine aged cheese. Yeah that bad.
Oh god the main entrees. Oh they were bad. Just horrible. I ordered a beef chimichanga. It came with beans and rice. Apparently the only seasoning Don Pablos has is chili powder. Why might I think that? Well the beef filling, which was supposed to be spicy, tasted of chili powder. Just chili powder. Ack. The beans were nasty, nasty, nasty. The rice, a really bad imitation of a Lipton rice and sauce packet, not at all authentic, or good. I mean I am not a fan of the Lipton rice stuff, but even that would have been better. The horror.
Rob ordered carnitas. Pork carnitas. They sucked major ass. They came out tepid. The rice on his plate was inedible, completely. I swear they scraped the bottom of the rice barrel onto his plate. His food was so bad, that after one bite, he had to stop.
We got the manager over and he took the food away. Asking my hubby if he wanted something else. Um let me think, no. Chances are it would have been crap too.
Needless to say we will not be going back, ever. Oh god it was bad. I feel like my tongue and stomach have been raped by the vile Don Pablo.
Yuck!
