One of grandma's most famous quotes.
We were driving along a big stretch of road down in Florida, when all of a sudden, grandma pipes up, as she is looking out the window:
"When did they put those lines there?"
Stunned silence, and then laughter. Grandma was talking about the yellow lines that run down the center of the roadway.
"They have been there since they made the road."
"Really?"
"Yes. Really!"
And the whole car disolves into a fit of laughter. That is grandma. She was so dippy, but funny. Always joking around. Always laughing.
Spenser and grandma, well there is a relationship for ya. He would argue with her. She would argue with him. I think it says a lot, that my child, at 2, 3, 4 and 5 and my grandma would find things to argue about. One of the more infamous arguments was about seat belt safety. Spenser would always wear his, and grandma never did. He did not like this. So one day when they were in the car together, with my mom driving, he said:
"Nana Bird, you need to wear your seat belt."
"Oh honey, I don't like seatbelts, they are uncomfortable."
"Well Mom says that to be safe you need to wear it."
"Well I will be fine without it."
"But mom says to wear the seatbelt, it will keep you safe, Mom knows what she is talking about Nana."
"Your mother doesn't know everything." Hmpfhh
"Nana Bird, my mom knows everything. Put your seat belt on." Grumble, grumble.
Yep they would bicker back and forth like that one minute, and the next be laughing. So funny. I am so glad he got to know her. I happy that he will remember her.
I miss her.
