Spenser had his first appointment yesterday with the new head shrinker. She was very nice, and thankfully he liked her! Course she wasn't bad to look at,, and that unfortunately is a big thing for him. He is six, and already decides if he likes someone based on what they look like. I have no clue where he got that from, because I actively try to not make those types of judgment's in front of him, or at least I don't voice negative things about how people look in front of him.
Last year he was happy because his kindergarten teacher was "hot". His words not mine. When he started karate, he instantly took a dislike to the teacher. Now granted later on, it was founded for him not to like her, she was not nice to the boys in the class. And to be honest, she was not in the least attractive. It was like she actively tried to be unattractive, and her attitude was unattractive as well. But still when a five year old tells you flat out--
"Mom, I don't like her, she is not cute."-- it makes you wonder.
He is the ladies man though. He loves girls, which I foresee to be an issue as he gets older.
I honestly do not see him going through a "girls have cooties" phase. In fact, I am thinking he will go through phases like--
"Girls are for kissing"
"Girls are for hugging"
"Girls are for holding hands"
"I like girls and they like me".
He already has two girlfriends, or so he says. The older girl next door. And a girl in his class. I think he likes the older women! He is a charmer for sure.
A couple months ago, he crawled up into my mothers lap, and said to her, as he faced her, holding her face in both of his hands--
"Nana, how did you ever get a young face with all that gray hair?"
He of course meant it as a compliment, and of course she knew this, and therefore let him get his way after that. See, a charmer.
Anyway, back to the appointment. They have put him on Seroquel, to sedate him. Hopefully this will help him sleep at night. The child has never slept through a night. He gets up, goes to the bathroom. Goes to the couch, gets on his floor, rolls, thrashes, and just generally does not rest at all. I only hope he doesn't get sedated through the day. The doctor was worried that he might put on more weight. While I am worried about that too, I am more concerned that he is happy, and feels good. I would rather have a chunky monkey, then dead Fred!
More later!
