Braces: The saga continues...

Yesterday I had to get my braces tightened. They also replaced the two brackets that had fallen off. One of the brackets was on a front bottom tooth, so that tooth was pushed back behind other teeth. The other bracket was on a jaw tooth. The jaw tooth bracket has not bothered me one iota. The bracket on the front tooth, OMG it is so sore. So over the course of yesterday, I have had a tooth be pulled forward, fast. Needless to say, my mouth is sore. Feels like I took a jack hammer to the bottom teeth.

Here is something you don't think abut when getting braces: Learning how to chew correctly.

Because they are moving the position my teeth are in, and eventually my jaw position, I have to learn how to chew correctly. This means that I have to move my jaws to make the teeth hit correctly. Otherwise I would bite off a couple more brackets. They have not yet started on the jaw movement. I think the next visit in 6 weeks will be the one where they give me rubberbands, to start relocating my jaw/bite. A positive of this right now, is that I really do not want to chew anything, because it is very difficult. So on top of doing the elliptical I am seriously cutting back on the whole food intake thing. Doesn't hurt either that I may or may not have an ulcer, and therefore do not want to eat for fear of being in pain. (I have a call into the doctor for that, they gave me nexium last week and while it has worked some, I am still having severe stomach pain. Like heart attack intensity pain.)

I may yet actually drop the weight that has crept back on me. Although the doctor thought the weight was water retention from the hormones I have to take. Does not matter to me, I just want to drop at least 20, if not more.

Well I went completely off topic. Hmmmm.

:)
