Right.
So it is technically the first full day of spring. However spring itself must be taking a break, because we have snow. Snow damn it.
I totally hate snow. Sure it is pretty for the first 5 minutes it is on the ground. Then you get all the slushy muddy stuff. Not to mention the yellow snow from dogs. The salt from everyone trying to get it all to melt. And the cold. Oh how I hate the cold.
It always seems somehow a little colder when it snows. Maybe it is because it eventually starts to melt while you are still outside, therefore you are damp, and the cold zeroes in on that. Maybe it is because generally when you have an assload of snow, you get wind with it. Or maybe it is because it is just cold when it snows.
Of course this was supposed to be some huge snow storm. We were supposed to have it start overnight, say like 3 in the morning. It didn't, which is good. Thing is, people were in a mad dash to get supplies last night. My neighbor stopped at the store on the way home, and said it was a madhouse. So needless to say I didn't go last night to get fruit, or any other things I needed. And yet we have maybe an inch of the white powdered hell on the ground.
The city stops when it snows. Seriously. The kids are out of school. There are delays and cancellations all over the place. Sort of silly when you think about it. One lousy inch. Oh sure we are supposed to get ice and sleet later. Oh sure that makes driving dicey. But think of the fun the children could have when there busses go ice skating on the pavement. Heh.
Of course next week is spring break for the gaggle of children who like to hang out at my house. Ok, they may not just casually hang out, they in fact stay at the day orphanage that is my house, while their parents work.
So, all of this snow, if it melts before then, will turn to mud. Fat lot of good spring break is when you can't enjoy it. Unless we get a ton of sun, it means the kids will not be playing outdoors, because I do not want the mud in the house. This of course means that I will have to figure out how to entertain two 7 year olds. One 6 year old. And two 2 year olds 3 days, one 2 year old 5 days.
What does one do short of duct taping them to the wall to keep everyone happy and quiet?
Hahahahaha, quiet. I crack myself up.
So, Spring where ever you are, please come back. I miss the sun. I miss the warmth. I miss sticking the kidlets outside so they can play and I can have five minutes of peace! ( I know 5 minutes of peace is like 5 minutes too long, but one can dream, right?)
Damn this snow. Powdered white hell.
