I talked to a friend last night, who did point out that there very may well be other trips like this to take. Who knows? All I know is that I still have a concert ticket, and it is taunting me. Sick twisted ticket. Oh well, what can you do?
I suppose I can always just say that my family needed me more then the concert or hotel, or airplane did. Of course there is that whole needing a break thing, but really who doesn't?
I could start an internet collection going. You know like that girl a couple years back that begged people to help her pay off her credit card debt? I could make a plea, but then, who the fuck would pony up the dough for this girl to go on an ego trip of a trip? I could always say something like this:
"Please, won't you help those who need help? Say, for example, Robyn. Now here is a person who needs help, and no not in that way. Can't you see it in your heart to spare a dime, or a twenty or a fifty?"
Yeah I am thinking that ain't gonna work. Rats. Double rats.
This whole thing has me thinking of a Monty Python song. Very rarely do I actually admit to thinking of anything having to do with Monty Python. So here goes:
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life Some things in life are bad, They can really make you mad, Other things just make you swear and curse, When you're chewing life's gristle, Don't grumble, Give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best. And... Always look on the bright side of life. [whistle] Always look on the light side of life. [whistle] If life seems jolly rotten, There's something you've forgotten, And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps, Don't be silly chumps. Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing. And... Always look on the bright side of life. [whistle] Always look on the right side of life, [whistle] For life is quite absurd And death's the final word. You must always face the curtain with a bow. Forget about your sin. Give the audience a grin. Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow. So,... Always look on the bright side of death, [whistle] Just before you draw your terminal breath. [whistle] Life's a piece of shit, When you look at it. Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true. You'll see it's all a show. Keep 'em laughing as you go. Just remember that the last laugh is on you. And... Always look on the bright side of life. Always look on the right side of life. [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Always look on the bright side of life! [whistle] Repeat to fade...
There you have it. Maybe, just maybe that will become my personal anthem.... nah!
