What does it mean, when someone, gets rid of of something that you have given them?

Does it mean they are done with you?
Does it mean they are done with whatever the "gift" was?

I wonder about these things. A lot.

I always seem to give of myself, and I really don't ask for much in return, but yet, people seem to be able to abuse the niceness. I suppose that is what happens when someone is genuinely nice. They get abused for it, and eventually the niceness goes away, and a wall comes up. Sad really.

Pity some people can't just give along with the take. And by give I don't mean anything else other then of themselves. Not material possessions. And the gift I was mentioning was not a material thing, btw. And I am rambling.
